The Barbican Estate is both modernist and historically suggestive, merging together futuristic ideas with the 18th century Picturesque.

Sculptural, awe inspiring, perplexing; an ageing vision of future that never came to be. The Barbican stands alone as one of the few examples where the vision and the reality seem to work in unison.

'For most, brutalism is a miserable danger zone of concrete car park or pee stained walkways on a windswept council estate, but the Barbican reminds us of how different it could all have been.
